Cadet Coordinator
ROLE SUMMARY
- To recruit, select, plan and manage the development of cadets and junior officers within the CSM cadet and junior officer programme.
Job Description
Experience:
- Seagoing experience as a cadet or junior officer, or a university degree and experience in training or education of not less than 3 years;
- A good command of the English language;
- Typing / computer knowledge;
- Good command of Microsoft office and in particular Word and Excel;
Key Accountabilities:
- Organise the recruitment and selection of cadets via the manning agencies
- Interviewing and pre-screening of cadets joining the programme
- Ensure the efficient organization and planning of cadets in the CSM fleet
- Ensure the efficient monitoring and planning of Junior Officers in the CSM fleets
- Maintain management records, reports and lists of all cadets
- Monitor and provide career development to cadets.
- Mentor and guide cadets during the programme
- Coordinating with Manning Agents and Crewing Superintendents for the assignment of cadets including embarkation/dis-embarkation
- Management of scholarships with Marine Academies/Colleges
- Cooperating with the Accounting Department on monthly reports related to cadets.
- Oversee the management of Cadet task books and provide monthly reports on progression.
- Supporting efforts for continuous improvement
- Any other special tasks as may be assigned;
Job-Specific Skills:
- A thorough knowledge of current and impending maritime legislation
- A thorough knowledge of maritime training and development needs
- A thorough working knowledge and understanding of STCW as amended
- A thorough understanding of MLC 2006 as amended
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Fluency in English
- PC / Microsoft Office literate (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
